Course Study
2019-2020 Academics
I would say that I am in integrative studies for a different reason than most people in this major. In general, I think that a lot of my peers chose integrative studies early on in their college careers because it gives them a chance to showcase multiple skills, minors, etc. For me, I was late to the game and changed my major so that it better accommodated my career goal. I orignially planned on attednding nursing school, but after a meeting with my advisor, I realized that I was really close to graduating with a Bachelor of Science. This pathway seemed to suit me better than a typical major and allowed me to complete my degree faster with my diversified general education.
Currently I am in a place where I have all my nursing prerequisites completed, so I am fulfilling classes that meet the requirements of the Health Studies Minor and Interdisciplinary Writing and Rhetoric major. To be honest, I didn’t have a lot of wiggle room for taking ‘fun’ classes this year, but I did have some options. For example, I got to ‘pick and choose more classes in the IWR major, so I chose classes that sounded more interesting to me. You also may notice that most of my classes are upper division. I have all my gen-ed essentially completed and mostly what I need to work on is 60 credits of upper division coursework to satisfy my Bachelor of Science requirements. Overall, I’m excited for this year, because I feel the most prepared I have ever been in terms of knowing what classes I’m taking. I am also genuinely excited to be finishing my degree online for the last year to have more freedom and of course, I am excited to graduate in the spring!
